Syrian President Bashar al-Assad’s wife Asma al-Assad has been diagnosed with leukemia. The Syrian Presidency announced that Asma al-Assad, the wife of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad, has been diagnosed with acute myeloid leukemia after undergoing medical examinations and tests following the appearance of various symptoms and clinical signs. It was stated that the 48-year-old Asma al-Assad will be subjected to a special treatment protocol including isolation conditions, and therefore will stay away from public activities. Asma al-Assad had announced in August 2019 that she had overcome breast cancer, which was diagnosed early in 2018. Chronic myeloid leukemia is known as a type of cancer that affects bone marrow and blood cells.
