U.S. President Joe Biden addressed the nation following his party’s loss in the presidential elections, stating, “The will of the people always prevails.”

U.S. President Joe Biden spoke to the nation from the Rose Garden of the White House after the presidential elections. Biden noted that the United States has had “the greatest self-governance experience in world history” for over 200 years, that the people elect their leaders through voting, and that they do so peacefully, saying, “The will of the people always prevails.”

Congratulating Vice President Kamala Harris for her efforts, Biden announced that he assured Trump that the transition of power would be smooth. Describing the loss of the elections as a “setback,” Biden stated, “Setbacks are inevitable, but we cannot stop fighting; doing so would be unforgivable. We lost this battle, but the America of your dreams is calling you to rise again.”

Biden congratulated Democratic Party candidate Kamala Harris for running an “inspiring” campaign and stated that on January 20, power would be peacefully transferred to the U.S. President-elect Donald Trump, saying, “I will fulfill my duties as president.”

Biden said, “I assured Trump that I would work with his team to ensure a peaceful and smooth transition. This is what the American people deserve.”

Biden remarked, “We are leaving behind the world’s strongest economy. Now we have 74 days to complete our term; let’s make the most of every day.”

Describing Vice President Harris as a strong partner and a person dedicated to serving the public, Biden said, “During the campaign, I had the opportunity to notice something before everyone else: Character.”

Biden, who withdrew from the presidential race about four months ago and nominated Harris in his place, said, “She put her whole heart and effort into it. Harris and her entire team should be proud of the campaign they ran.”

Stating that they accept the choice made by the people, Biden called on American citizens to unite, saying, “A country chooses either one or the other. We accept the choice made by the country. There is no such thing as loving your country only when you win. There is no such thing as loving your neighbor only when you agree with them. Regardless of whom you voted for, I hope there is one thing you can do: See each other not as enemies but as fellow Americans. Reduce the tension.”

In his speech, Biden also stated that the presidential elections were honest, fair, and transparent.
