The High Representative of the European Union (EU) for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Joseph Borrell, called for an investigation into the attack carried out by Israel yesterday in the El-Mevasi area, where civilians took shelter in tents and the office of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) was also damaged. Israel is targeting civilians in the Gaza Strip while also targeting international aid organizations. The statement by the ICRC that ‘the ICRC office was damaged due to bombardment’ further fueled the reactions following the attack yesterday in the El-Mevasi area in the south of the Gaza Strip, where displaced Palestinians had taken shelter and 25 civilians lost their lives. Joseph Borrell, the High Representative of the European Union (EU) for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, in his statement said, ‘The EU condemns the bombardment that caused damage to the ICRC office in Gaza and led to dozens of casualties. An independent investigation is needed, and those responsible must be held accountable.’ An Israeli official, on the other hand, stated that there is no indication that the attack was carried out by Israeli forces.
