Azerbaijan’s national leader Heydar Aliyev was commemorated on the 101st anniversary of his birth at a ceremony held at his grave in the capital Baku.
State Ceremony Attended by President Ilham Aliyev and His Wife
Azerbaijan’s late president Heydar Aliyev’s birthday ceremony was attended by Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev and his wife Mehriban Aliyeva. At the ceremony, which started with the national anthem, President Aliyev laid a wreath at Heydar Aliyev’s grave and paid his respects. His wife Mehriban Aliyeva left flowers.
Heydar Aliyev’s Leadership and Significance

Aliyev, who served as the president from 1993 to 2003, passed away on December 12, 2003, and was buried in Baku.
