The Starliner spacecraft of the U.S.-based aviation company Boeing was successfully launched with a crew for the first time after two canceled launches. The spacecraft was launched from the Cape Canaveral Space Force Station in Florida, U.S., using the United Launch Alliance (ULA) Atlas-V rocket to the International Space Station (ISS). It is expected that the spacecraft will arrive at the ISS in 24 hours. Astronauts Barry ‘Butch’ Wilmore and Sunita ‘Suni’ Williams were on board the Starliner as the crew. Although it is possible to reach the ISS in just a few hours, Wilmore and Williams plan to conduct some flight tests. One of these tests is said to be trying to manually control the capsule. Earlier, two launches were postponed. It was announced that Starliner would be sent into orbit on May 6, but the launch was postponed to May 10 due to a valve malfunction detected in the spacecraft. While it was stated that it would take time to fix the malfunction, May 17 was indicated as the next launch date. However, the launch planned for May 17 was postponed to May 25 due to a helium gas leak detected in the Starliner’s service module. It was later announced that the launch was further postponed to an unknown date due to ongoing investigations regarding the helium leak.
