Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky met with U.S. Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin during his official visit to Ukraine’s capital, Kyiv. Austin announced that the U.S. will provide $400 million in military aid to Ukraine.
Zelensky stated in his remarks, “Today, I hosted U.S. Secretary of Defense Austin in Kyiv. I thanked him for the new defense assistance worth $400 million, which includes ammunition, military equipment, and weapons for Ukraine.”
Zelensky conveyed that they discussed critical topics such as Ukraine’s air defense capabilities, preparations for winter, and the use of long-range weapons against Russian military targets during the meeting. He said, “Secretary Austin once again confirmed that the U.S. will continue its security support as part of the ongoing defense agreement between our countries. Austin also shared his plans to organize a new meeting in the Ramstein format to coordinate further assistance with international partners.”
