Polish Defense Minister Wladyslaw Kosiniak-Kamysz stated that they will start the biggest operation in history to strengthen security on the country’s eastern border and mentioned that they will establish a drone (UAV) army. Poland is taking steps to strengthen border security. During the oath ceremony of the 11th Malopolska Regional Defense Brigade, Polish Defense Minister Wladyslaw Kosiniak-Kamysz provided information about strengthening the country’s eastern border under the ‘Eastern Shield’ plan. Kosiniak-Kamysz emphasized that this will be the biggest operation in history aimed at enhancing security on Poland’s eastern border, and defense systems along with modern equipment will be used. Kosiniak-Kamysz said, ‘We are establishing drone (UAV) armies. Drones will be present in all branches of the armed forces, including air, land, sea, and submarine units.’ Kosiniak-Kamysz highlighted that there have been no such defense systems on any border since 1945, and mentioned that as part of strengthening the eastern border, they will create the ‘Baltic Line’ with Lithuania, Latvia, and Estonia. Addressing the fight against hybrid attacks, Defense Minister Kosiniak-Kamysz stated that they have allocated 2 billion zloty (approximately 500 million euros) to combat sabotage actions, including cyber attacks, targeting the Polish state.
