Minister of Foreign Affairs Hakan Fidan Attended the OIC Summit in Gambia
Minister of Foreign Affairs Hakan Fidan attended the Organization of Islamic Cooperation Summit held in Gambia. A remarkable participation highlighting Turkey’s important role in international relations took place.
The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Hakan Fidan, represented Turkey at the 15th Summit of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) held in Banjul, the capital of Gambia, which is the smallest country in West Africa. Prior to the official opening of the summit, Fidan took part in a family photo with the heads of state and government of member countries. The main theme of the meeting was determined as ‘Strengthening unity and solidarity through dialogue for sustainable development’. Additionally, the summit is expected to address the attacks by Israel in the Gaza Strip.
Bilateral Meetings and Contacts
Minister Fidan held numerous bilateral meetings within the scope of the summit. Received by Gambian President Adama Barrow, Fidan also met with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan, Ceyhun Bayramov, and the Deputy Prime Minister of Somalia, Salah Jama. Furthermore, he held a meeting with the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Sudan, Hussein Awad Ali Mohammed. He also met with representatives of Turkish companies operating in Gambia to gather information about the activities of the Turkish business world.
