The draft declaration published on the 2nd day of the Ukraine Peace Conference held in the town of Bürgenstock, located next to Lake Lucerne in the Nidwalden canton of Switzerland, stated that ‘The conference is built on previous discussions based on other peace proposals in accordance with international law.’ The Ukraine Peace Conference, which started yesterday in Switzerland, is ongoing. On the 2nd day of the conference attended by 100 countries and organizations in the town of Bürgenstock next to Lake Lucerne in the Nidwalden canton, the draft declaration was published. The joint statement titled Switzerland Peace Framework stated, ‘This conference is built on previous discussions based on other peace proposals in accordance with international law, including Ukraine’s Peace Formula and the United Nations (UN) Charter.’ The declaration demanded a common vision for achieving peace and stability in Ukraine, including nuclear security, global food security, and the release of prisoners of war, stating, ‘Firstly, all uses of nuclear energy and nuclear facilities must be safe, secure, protected, and environmentally friendly. Nuclear power plants and facilities in Ukraine, including Zaporizhia, must operate safely under the full sovereign control of Ukraine, in accordance with the principles of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) and under its supervision.’ The declaration emphasized that the use of any nuclear weapons threat in the Ukraine conflict is unacceptable, stating, ‘Global food security depends on the uninterrupted production and supply of food products. In this context, access to ports in the Black Sea and the Sea of Azov is of critical importance. Attacks on commercial ships, civilian ports, and civil port infrastructure in ports and throughout the entire route are unacceptable.’ The declaration underscored that food security should not be used as a weapon in any way, and it was noted that Ukrainian agricultural products should be provided to relevant countries safely and freely. The declaration called for the release of all war prisoners through exchange, stating, ‘All Ukrainian children deported and illegally displaced, as well as all other Ukrainian civilians illegally detained, must be returned to Ukraine. We believe that achieving peace requires the participation of all parties and dialogue among the parties. Therefore, we have decided to take concrete steps in the future in the above-mentioned areas with the increased participation of representatives of all parties.’
