Berlin Ambassador Şen Visits the Relatives of Those Who Died in Solingen to Offer Condolences
Turkey’s Ambassador to Berlin, Ahmet Başar Şen, paid a condolence visit to the relatives of the 4 Turkish-origin Bulgarian citizens who lost their lives as a result of the arson attack on the building where they lived in Solingen, Germany.
Turkey’s Ambassador to Berlin, Ahmet Başar Şen, paid a condolence visit to the relatives of the 4 Turkish-origin Bulgarian citizens who lost their lives in the arson attack on the building where they lived in Solingen, Germany, last Sunday night. Şen stated, “I wish a speedy recovery to the injured. I extend my condolences to our deceased brothers; may their resting places be in paradise. We lost them in this blessed Ramadan month, it’s a great loss, a great pain. May Allah reward them with paradise and treat them with His mercy. I also extend my condolences and wish patience and strength to those they left behind.”
Expressing that he shares the pain of those who lost their loved ones, Şen said, “Such a tragic incident, such an unfortunate event, not only leaves physical wounds but also represents a mentally and psychologically heavy case for those who lost their loved ones, and we share your grief. I am here to convey our condolences on behalf of the Republic of Turkey, our Embassy. We have also come here to meet with you and our Consul General to hear your requests. We have come here to convey these requests to the German authorities and to get their contributions. God willing, may He not give such pains again, may He not give such tragic events again.”

Şen, stating that the fire was caused by arson, said, “According to the statement made by the prosecutor’s office yesterday, the incident is not caused by an error or a malfunction inside the building, in the statement, it was announced that the incident is an arson incident carried out with the intention of deliberately and willingly causing murder, that it is an arson case.”
Şen stated that it is not yet clear whether the arson was motivated by hostility or racism, and he mentioned the Solingen Arson Attack that occurred 31 years ago. Şen said, “As representatives of the Republic of Turkey here, we will follow up on this issue. We will do our best for the investigation opened in this regard to progress in all directions, for all the details of the incident to be revealed, and for the perpetrators, as well as anyone who assisted or harbored them, to be punished with the most severe penalties. I am sure that the German state authorities want this as well. I am also sure that they will work diligently. We will also contribute as much as we can, follow up on it, and convey the information we receive to you.”
Two Children and 4 People from the Same Family Lost Their Lives
In a statement by the Wuppertal Prosecutor’s Office, it was stated that the fire was caused by arson, and it was reported that the fire was ignited by pouring flammable substances. Ismail Zhilov (29), Kıymet (28), Gizem (5), and Elis (3 months old) from the same family lost their lives in the fire. The fire brought back memories of the Solingen Arson Attack in 1993, where 5 Turkish citizens lost their lives.
