Being treated for multiple organ failure at ‘Bremen Ost Hospital’ in Bremen, Germany for the past 5 weeks, 64-year-old Leyla Terzi, who was given a month to live by German doctors, sought a solution in Turkey. The Consulate General of Turkey in Hannover intervened for Terzi, who was sent home by hospital doctors stating that her organs had failed. The Turkish Ministry of Health, through the Consulate General, decided to continue the patient’s treatment in Turkey. After the necessary procedures were completed, an air ambulance was sent to Bremen from Turkey, and Terzi was sent to Turkey by air ambulance in the evening.
‘We are proud of our state’
Speaking at Bremen airport, Terzi said, ‘I am very happy to go to Turkey, but I am also sad to be separated from my children.’ Her daughter Tuğba Arslan stated that the hospital where they received treatment in Bremen was not a good hospital, saying, ‘They don’t take good care in Germany. We are proud of our state. Everyone’s homeland is beautiful to themselves, never forget this.’ Leyla Terzi’s husband Ali Terzi said, ‘After the hospital where my wife was staying discharged her, we applied to the Consulate General in Hannover and requested her treatment to be carried out in Turkey. After completing the required documents, we received approval within a week. We are currently sending her from the airport to Turkey,’ indicating that the treatment will continue at a hospital in Istanbul.
