The Trident missile tested by the UK fell near the submarine with Defense Minister Shapps aboard
The Trident missile test conducted by the UK’s nuclear submarine HMS Vanguard ended in failure. The missile fell near the submarine, which also included Defense Minister Grant Shapps. According to a report by the British newspaper The Sun, based on the UK Ministry of Defense, during the Trident missile test conducted by the military off the coast of Florida on January 30, an “anomaly” occurred. It was stated that the Trident missile, capable of carrying a nuclear warhead, was fired from the nuclear submarine HMS Vanguard but landed in the ocean near the submarine. The “anomaly” was said to have been caused by the non-ignition of the thrusters in the first stage. It was reported that Defense Minister Grant Shapps was aboard the submarine during the missile test.
On the other hand, the UK’s Trident missile test also ended in failure in 2016.
Shapps confirmed the incident
Minister Grant Shapps confirmed the failed missile test, emphasizing that the Trident missile system “continues to be the most reliable weapon system in the world.” Shapps did not provide further details, citing national security.
