The conference aims to take the first steps towards initiating the peace process, discussing ways to achieve a just and lasting peace for Ukraine based on international law and the UN Charter, and promoting a common understanding to reach peace. While Turkey will be represented by Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan at the conference, Vice President Kamala Harris from the United States will attend, and Russia was not invited. The Chinese government, which advocates that any peace process should start with the participation of both Russia and Ukraine, announced that it will not attend the conference. The Ukraine Peace Conference, which is considered the largest meeting on resolving the crisis in Ukraine since the start of the war, and where representatives from the UN and European institutions will also participate, is expected to be opened by Viola Amherd, the President of the Swiss Confederation.
