Muslims who come to Mecca-i Mükerreme to perform the pilgrimage duty visit the blessed places as well. In Jannat al-Mualla, the grave of Hazrat Khadija, the first wife of the Prophet, the mother of the believers, and the first woman to embrace Islam, is located at the forefront of the pilgrimage sites. Also in Jannat al-Mualla is the grave of Hazrat Kasim, the son of the Prophet who passed away at the age of 17 in Mecca, buried by the Prophet himself. Additionally, in the cemetery where thousands of companions are buried, there are relatives such as the uncle of the Prophet who protected him, Abu Talib, the children of Hazrat Abu Bakr, and numerous companions. After circumambulating the Kaaba, Jannat al-Mualla, located approximately 2 kilometers northwest, is known as a place where lovers of the Prophet shed tears. Hazrat Khadija is among the honored ones who embraced Islam in its early days. In the period of the Ottoman Empire, where the tombs of many of the Companions of the Prophet are located, now only two stones identify the burial places. Moreover, in the modern burial system, Jannat al-Mualla is opened for visits every day after the afternoon prayer, and it is a double-layered structure where only the residents of Mecca can be buried. Some pilgrimage candidates also visit the cemetery from the roadside by buses and recite prayers.
