Minister of Culture and Tourism Mehmet Nuri Ersoy is holding various meetings to strengthen cultural and touristic collaborations during his visit to Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Minister of Culture and Tourism Mehmet Nuri Ersoy visited Bosnia and Herzegovina. He attended the opening ceremony of the Arnavudiy Mosque, which was rebuilt true to its original form after being destroyed during the Bosnian War.
Speeches at the Opening Ceremony
Minister Ersoy emphasized the importance of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Balkans for Turkey, stating that the mosque was built with a message of peace and brotherhood. The Grand Mufti of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Kavazović, drew attention to the historical and cultural significance of the mosque.
Gratitude from President Dodik
The President of the Republika Srpska, Milorad Dodik, expressed that the destruction of the mosque was a mistake and conveyed his thanks to Turkey and other supporters. Dodik mentioned that the mosque would contribute to peace in the region.
Attendance at the Opening
Prominent figures from Bosnia and Herzegovina and Turkey attended the opening ceremony. State officials, religious leaders, and local people came together for the opening of the mosque. The foundation-laying ceremony of the mosque, which is recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, was held in 2017.
