World Intercultural Dialogue Forum has Started

The 6th World Intercultural Dialogue Forum held in the capital of Azerbaijan, Baku, started with an official opening ceremony at the Heydar Aliyev Center. The opening ceremony was attended by guests from various countries around the world, Azerbaijani state and government officials, members of parliament, representatives of religious communities, and diplomatic representatives.

Statements on Peace Negotiations

President of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev, emphasized in his speech that Azerbaijan is actively making efforts for peace and took the initiative to start peace treaty negotiations with Armenia. Aliyev stated that the ongoing negotiations between the two countries are being conducted by Azerbaijan.

Aliyev: “Now we are actually moving towards peace in a positive way, the demarcation of borders has started. Not only the demarcation of borders, but even the delineation of borders has also begun.”

Peace Process with Armenia

President Aliyev criticized countries trying to intervene in the peace process with Armenia, emphasizing their desire for peace in the South Caucasus. Aliyev stated, “We will not allow this in the South Caucasus, we will not give a chance. After thirty years of conflict, even Armenia clearly understands that we want peace in the South Caucasus.”

Azerbaijan’s Role and Climate Summit

President Aliyev mentioned that due to Azerbaijan’s geographical location and interaction with European institutions, Azerbaijan plays a bridging role in the region. Additionally, he referred to the United Nations Climate Summit (COP29) they will host in November, highlighting Azerbaijan’s active participation in international platforms.
