US President Joe Biden expressed his concerns about Israel’s potential military operation in the city of Rafah in the Gaza Strip during a phone call with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. The conversation took place after an evacuation order was issued for 100,000 people in the east of Rafah, located in the southern part of the Gaza Strip. President Biden informed Prime Minister Netanyahu about efforts to reach a prisoner exchange deal, including ongoing talks in the Qatari capital, Doha.

It was noted that Netanyahu agreed to keep the Kerem Shalom Border Crossing open for the passage of humanitarian aid to the Gaza Strip, while Biden reiterated his clear stance on a possible military operation in the city of Rafah. A spokesperson for the US National Security Council stated that during the call between Biden and Netanyahu, the President reiterated his concerns about the occupation of Rafah and expressed his belief that reaching a ceasefire agreement with Hamas is the best way to protect the lives of Israeli hostages held in Gaza.
