UN: ‘The world cannot bear another Gaza in Lebanon’

United Nations (UN) Secretary-General Antonio Guterres addressed the tension between Israel and Lebanon at the border, stating, ‘A single hasty move can trigger a disaster that goes far beyond the border, surpassing imagination. Let’s be clear, the region and the people of the world cannot bear Lebanon becoming another Gaza.’ As the genocide by Israel in the Gaza Strip continues, tensions are also escalating at the Lebanon border. Referencing the tension between Israel and Hezbollah in Lebanon, UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres expressed his concerns. Guterres emphasized that ‘A single hasty move and a single miscalculation can trigger a disaster that goes far beyond the border, surpassing imagination. Let’s be clear, the region and the people of the world cannot bear Lebanon becoming another Gaza.’ Guterres also discussed the work of the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) and the UN Truce Supervision Organization (UNTSO) along the border line to monitor the conflicts, stating, ‘UN peacekeeping troops are working in the field to reduce tension and prevent miscalculations.’
