Following the arrest of 2 individuals working at the State Security Service on suspicion of planning an assassination by the Ukrainian intelligence, Vladimir Zelenskiy took action by dismissing the Head of the State Security Service.
Operation by the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU)
After the recent arrest of 2 colonels working at the State Security Service by the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU), Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelenskiy dismissed Serhii Rud, the Head of the State Security Service, through a decree. Rud, who took office in 2019, has not been replaced yet.
FSB Agents and Arrests
The SBU announced the exposure of 5 agents from the Russian Federal Security Service (FSB) who were preparing to assassinate Zelenskiy and other high-ranking military and political officials, and had arrested 2 colonels from the State Security Service of Ukraine who were accused of leaking information to the Russian intelligence.
