Within the scope of the NATO Defense Ministers Meeting, the 23rd meeting of the Ukraine Defense Contact Group was held. Minister of National Defense Yaşar Güler attended the meeting. The U.S.-led Ukraine Defense Contact Group gathered at the NATO Headquarters in Brussels, the capital of Belgium, within the framework of the NATO Defense Ministers Meeting. Minister of National Defense Güler, who attended the meeting, had a brief chat with Swedish Defense Minister Pal Jonson and other counterparts before the session. U.S. Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin delivered the opening speech of the 23rd Ukraine Defense Contact Group Meeting. Austin stated that Ukraine urgently needs to increase its air defense capabilities and emphasized that Ukrainian forces continue to influence the world with their capabilities. Mentioning that at least 350,000 Russian soldiers have died or been injured since Russia launched an attack on Ukraine in February 2022, Austin noted that global partners support Ukraine. Austin highlighted that the Ukraine Contact Group will continue to work to meet Ukraine’s urgent needs and announced that Argentina has joined the Ukraine Defense Contact Group, stating that the support for Ukraine is increasing.
