US State Department Spokesperson Matthew Miller signaled that more weapon shipments could be halted after the US stopped high-capacity munitions shipments to Israel.
Statement from the US State Department
Following the US’s halt of high-capacity munitions shipments to Israel, US State Department Spokesperson Matthew Miller made statements. Miller said the US government is reviewing other weapon shipments to Israel after halting one shipment.
Miller used the following words: ‘You see that many Palestinians have died in the attacks so far. We have been clear for some time that these outcomes are unacceptable. We stopped one shipment. We are reviewing other potential weapon systems. I won’t go into further details here.’
Statement from the US Secretary of Defense
US Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin stated, ‘From the start, we have been very clear that Israel should not launch a major attack on Gaza without considering and protecting civilians on the battlefield. And again, as we assess the situation, we have halted the shipment of high-capacity munitions. We have not made a final decision on how to proceed with this shipment.’
