It was reported that approximately 25 percent of voters cast their ballots in the capital Tehran, while in the major provinces, the participation rates were announced as 49.7 percent in Qom, 55 percent in Ilam, 43 percent in Sistan, and Baluchestan, 40 percent in Razavi Khorasan, and 47 percent in Lorestan.
The voting lasted for 16 hours
Meanwhile, in Iran, the voting process, which began at 08:00 local time yesterday and was initially announced to end at 18:00, was extended until 20:00, then 22:00, and finally until 00:00.
In the Islamic Consultative Assembly of Iran, which has 290 seats, more than 15,000 candidates are competing, while in the Assembly of Experts, which has 88 seats and holds the authority to select, supervise, and dismiss the religious leader, 144 candidates are competing.
