TBMM President Numan Kurtulmuş stated, ‘With the understanding of a strong Turkey and a strong society, we are entering the upcoming period much stronger. As Turkey, we will not retreat from some threats we face or step back from certain developments, but rather continue our path by evaluating the upcoming opportunities.’ Kurtulmuş, during his visit to the United States capital Washington for the NATO Parliamentary Assembly, visited the America Diyanet Center. At the program organized by the Turkish American National Steering Committee (TASC) at the America Diyanet Center, Kurtulmuş met with Turkish Americans and representatives of civil society organizations, expressing that the Diyanet Center, which he visited for the first time, is suitable for Turkey’s greatness, goals, and mission. Kurtulmuş mentioned that significant changes are taking place globally, from climate change to migration issues, income inequality to conflicts, emphasizing that a multi-polar new world system has begun. He continued his words as follows: ‘We see environments where power centers fiercely compete with each other in all regions of the world, not a world directed by only one or a few countries. This multi-polarity will present us with new opportunities, threats, and challenges in many areas from economy to social structures, technological advancements to military balances. Therefore, we must perceive, understand, and combat this multi-polarity well in the upcoming period. Turkey is living in the most challenging region of the world. We have the Black Sea on one side; here is the war between Russia and Ukraine… In the south, we have the Middle East, and right on our southern borders, there are terrorist organizations that are products of proxy wars. There are developments in the Eastern Mediterranean, Caucasus. Turkey is at the common point of all these conflicts and some tension areas. This period also presents a great opportunity for Turkey. With the understanding of a strong Turkey and a strong society, we are entering the upcoming period much stronger. As Turkey, we will not retreat from some threats we face or step back from certain developments, but rather continue our path by evaluating the upcoming opportunities.’ Kurtulmuş emphasized that Turkey is one of the rare countries in the world that has the potential to enhance cooperation with culturally, politically, and economically diverse regions, stating, ‘Turkey is part of the Turkic world where 300 million Turks live from Central Asia to Europe. It is also a part of the Islamic world where approximately 2 billion Muslims live from Morocco to Indonesia. Turkey is one of the important countries that maintains close relations with Western countries, including the United States.’
