Saudi Arabia’s Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman called for an immediate cessation of attacks in Gaza and the recognition of an independent Palestinian state with East Jerusalem as its capital within the 1967 borders. Saudi Arabia’s King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman hosted a reception for state leaders, senior officials, delegation heads, and country representatives present in the holy lands for the Hajj pilgrimage. The reception, which began with the recitation of the Quran, featured a speech by Prince Salman. Extending Eid al-Adha greetings to the participants and all Muslims, Salman stated, ‘The blessed Eid al-Adha coincided with a period where heinous crimes continue to be committed against our brothers in the Gaza Strip. We call for an immediate cessation of these attacks and urge the international community to take all necessary measures to protect the people of Gaza.’ Salman also called for compliance with the latest decisions of the United Nations Security Council regarding an immediate ceasefire in the Gaza Strip, emphasizing, ‘The Kingdom reiterates its call for the recognition of an independent Palestinian state with East Jerusalem as its capital within the 1967 borders and for ensuring that the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people are attained and that a comprehensive, just, and lasting peace is achieved.’
