During a meeting with Chinese President Xi Jinping, Polish President Andrzej Duda expressed hope that China will support the end of the war in Ukraine in accordance with international legal norms and in a peaceful manner, stating ‘President Xi Jinping mentioned during our meeting that China desires peace and is a state that seeks peaceful development.’ Polish President Andrzej Duda, who is in China for an official visit, met with Chinese President Xi Jinping. Duda, welcomed by Xi with an official ceremony, held one-on-one and delegation meetings with Xi. During the four-hour long talks, diplomacy, security, and trade issues were discussed. Following the meeting, Duda, in a press statement, emphasized that Poland and China have very good diplomatic and political relations based on mutual respect between individuals.
Poland and China signed 5 agreements. Duda expressed his extreme satisfaction with being referred to as ‘My Friend’ by Xi, and announced that they signed 5 international agreements with China regarding technology, agriculture, science, and export of food products. Duda stated that Xi was extensively briefed on the Russia-Ukraine war, pressure created by Belarusian officials at the Polish border, and hybrid attacks on the Polish border. Duda said, ‘I conveyed to the President our perspective on security in the world and in Europe, our views on all threats perceived by Poland, and the necessity of peace.’ Duda expressed hope that China will support the end of Russia’s war in Ukraine in accordance with international legal norms and in a peaceful manner, mentioning that ‘President Xi Jinping mentioned several times during our meeting that China desires peace and is a state that seeks peaceful development.’
During President Duda’s visit, it was reported that China lifted the visa requirement for Polish citizens for a 15-day stay.
