Peace Efforts of Azerbaijan

The 6th World Forum on Intercultural Dialogue held in the capital of Azerbaijan, Baku, started with an official opening ceremony at the Heydar Aliyev Center. Guests from various countries around the world, Azerbaijani state and government officials, members of parliament, representatives of religious communities, and diplomatic representatives attended the opening ceremony. President of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev, emphasized in his speech that Azerbaijan is making active efforts for peace, stating that they have initiated peace treaty negotiations with Armenia. Aliyev announced that the negotiations between the two countries are being conducted by Azerbaijan.
Peace Process and Regional Dynamics
President Aliyev expressed that after regaining territorial integrity and sovereignty last September, Azerbaijan faced political attacks by external supporters of Armenia. Nevertheless, he mentioned that they offered peace and currently the process of demarcating borders has begun. While continuing his efforts for peace in the region, Aliyev warned against negative impacts of external interventions in the peace process with Armenia. He emphasized that peace in the South Caucasus can only be achieved through normalization between Azerbaijan and Armenia.
Note: President Aliyev stated that Azerbaijan will host the United Nations Climate Summit (COP29) in November and highlighted that the country plays a bridging role in the region due to its geographical location.
