Kazakhstan to Host Peace Agreement Negotiations between Azerbaijan and Armenia

Preparations have begun for the peace agreement negotiations to be held in Almaty, Kazakhstan. President of Kazakhstan, Kasym-Jomart Tokayev, announced that a significant step will be taken in the peace process between Azerbaijan and Armenia.

President Tokayev stated, “I would like to emphasize the great symbolism of the meetings to be held in Almaty between the Foreign Ministers of Azerbaijan and Armenia upon Kazakhstan’s proposal. This meeting is important as it will take place in the historic city where the Almaty Declaration, which shaped the independence process of the Commonwealth of Independent States countries in 1991, was signed.”

Tokayev highlighted that the negotiations in Almaty will help take concrete steps towards a peace agreement between Azerbaijan and Armenia and contribute to achieving lasting peace in the South Caucasus region.
