Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban, during his visit to Kiev, stated at a press conference held with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky that ‘We will participate in the modernization of the Ukrainian economy within our means.’ Criticizing the European Union’s aid to Ukraine on a regular basis, Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban, arrived in the Ukrainian capital, Kiev, one day after taking over the EU Presidency from Belgium. Orban held a bilateral meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky. The two leaders later held a press conference. Orban asked Zelensky to consider a ceasefire that could accelerate peace talks and stated that Hungary wants to have much better bilateral relations with Ukraine and is ready to participate in the modernization of the Ukrainian economy. Orban said, ‘We are trying to close all past disagreements and focus on the future. We want to establish relations between our countries; just like the agreements we have made with our other neighboring countries, we also want to sign a global cooperation agreement with Ukraine. We will participate in the modernization of the Ukrainian economy within our means.’
“We discussed the opening of a Ukrainian school in Hungary” Zelensky expressed the need for a ‘fair peace’ for his country, which has been in a state of war for 2 years, stating, ‘We welcome your visit taking place immediately after Hungary’s assumption of the EU Presidency. This is a clear indication of our common European priorities, such as the importance of European priorities and bringing a fair peace to Ukraine, solving current difficulties, and laying new foundations for stronger Europe and economic and social growth.’ Zelensky continued his statements as follows: ‘We discussed issues such as trade, cross-border cooperation, infrastructure, and energy. We discussed all concerns regarding both the Hungarian and Ukrainian peoples. We discussed the opening of a Ukrainian school in Hungary, which will be a first in its field, and Mr. Prime Minister assured us of his support for this project.’
