One person died in the school attack in Finland
While one of the 3 students injured in the armed attack at Viertola School in Finland this morning lost their life, the Finnish police announced that the attacker detained was 12 years old.
As the toll rises in the school attack in Vantaa, north of Helsinki, the capital of Finland, new information about the attack is also emerging. One of the 3 students injured in the attack at Viertola School this morning lost their life. Finnish police announced that the attacker detained in the Siltamaki district after the attack at the school, which has about 800 students and 90 staff, was a 12-year-old student, and that a weapon suspected to have been used in the attack was also seized. The police, confirming that there are no other suspects for now, also confirmed that all the injured students in the attack, the cause of which is still unknown, were also 12 years old. While it was revealed that the weapon used in the incident belonged to a relative of the attacker, it is expected that the attacker, who confessed his crime during police interrogation, will be placed under the supervision of social services due to his young age.
Finland’s Interior Minister Mari Rantanen, in a statement after the incident, said, “The day started horribly. I can only imagine the pain and worry that many families are experiencing right now.”
