The second session of the NATO Heads of State and Government Summit held in the USA has started. The second session of the NATO Heads of State and Government Summit, held at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center in the capital city of the USA, Washington DC, has begun. The sessions on the last day of the summit, celebrating the Alliance’s 75th anniversary, started with the ‘Meeting of Allied and Partner Heads of State and Government.’ NATO Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg, the High Representative of the European Union (EU) for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Josep Borrell, and the President of the EU Council Charles Michel also attended the meeting’s public session. In his opening speech, Stoltenberg addressed our common security issues, including Russia’s war on Ukraine, China’s support for Russia’s war economy, and the increasing alignment of authoritarian powers, stating, ‘In this session, we will discuss our common security issues, including Russia’s war on Ukraine, China’s support for Russia’s war economy, and the increasing alignment of authoritarian powers. To respond to these, we must work closer to preserve peace and uphold the rules-based international order.’ The program of the summit, where Ukraine retains a central place in the discussions, will continue on the last day with the ‘NATO-Ukraine Council Meeting at Heads of State and Government Level.’ The NATO Leaders Summit will conclude with a press conference by Stoltenberg.
