The Minister of Transport and Infrastructure, Abdulkadir Uraloğlu, met with the President of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC), Ersin Tatar, as part of his contacts in Northern Cyprus. Minister Abdulkadir Uraloğlu visited Northern Cyprus for various meetings.

Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Abdulkadir Uraloğlu met with the President of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC), Ersin Tatar, within the framework of his contacts in Northern Cyprus.

Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Abdulkadir Uraloğlu came to Northern Cyprus for various contacts. Uraloğlu arrived at the Presidential Palace in the capital Nicosia to meet with TRNC President Ersin Tatar, where he was welcomed by Undersecretary Okan Donangil. Turkey’s Ambassador to Nicosia, Yasin Ekrem Serim, and the Minister of Public Works and Transport, Erhan Arıklı, were also present at the meeting.

“Your visit carries great significance”

Before the meeting, Tatar stated that during his tenure as Minister of Finance, Binali Yıldırım was the Minister of Transport in Turkey, saying, “We had many collaborations with him.” Tatar emphasized that the efforts related to communication, infrastructure, and roads in the TRNC, despite isolations, are a significant blessing and value due to the support of the Republic of Turkey, stating, “Your visit carries great significance in this context.” He noted that as President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan said, the TRNC has reached the point of recognition, and embargoes and isolations should be lifted, adding that the international community has now recognized that there are two separate peoples, two separate states, and two separate authorities in Cyprus. Tatar mentioned that they are celebrating the 50th anniversary of the Cyprus Peace Operation and the 40th anniversary of the TRNC, stating that the Republic of Turkey has strategically and politically taken its place in the Eastern Mediterranean as a Turkish state in its second century.

“Our goal is to walk confidently in this geography”

President Tatar stated, “Our goal is to make our people happy, to elevate our people’s welfare, and to walk more confidently into the future together with the motherland, the little homeland, and the Blue Homeland in this geography.” Reminding that he attended the meeting of the Turkic States Organization in Shusha, President Tatar said, “We are in a very strategic position as the representative and window opening to the Mediterranean for the entire Turkic world with our ports and other opportunities in the Eastern Mediterranean, in terms of protecting national interests and benefits.” President Tatar indicated that they will make the necessary contributions in cooperation with the motherland, the Republic of Turkey, to increase the welfare and security of the citizens and to elevate the geopolitical and geostrategic importance of the TRNC even further. He wished that the clover junction to be built at the connection point of the Nicosia Northern Ring Road and the Nicosia-Girne Highway would be beneficial, expressing that there would be a much faster flow of traffic upon the project’s completion. Tatar thanked everyone who contributed to the project.

“We will hopefully continue our investments with your support”

Turkey’s Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Abdulkadir Uraloğlu thanked President Tatar for the reception, saying, “We are honored.” Expressing his happiness to be in the TRNC again a month after the celebrations of the 50th anniversary of the Cyprus Peace Operation, Uraloğlu pointed out that the foundation for the continuation of the Nicosia Ring Road would be laid today. Emphasizing that they will do whatever the TRNC needs as the Ministry of Transport, Minister Uraloğlu stated that they would discuss some issues today together with the Deputy Minister responsible for communications who is part of the team. He also noted that the General Director of Turkish Highways is in the team, stating that beautiful work has been done, especially on the east-west roads. Abdulkadir Uraloğlu said, “We will hopefully continue our investments with your support.” He expressed that they have a project regarding Ship Traffic Management Services at the Blue Homeland point, stating that when the work is implemented, it will further strengthen the strategic position of the TRNC in the Eastern Mediterranean.

Uraloğlu met with TRNC Parliament Speaker Töre

After his meeting with Tatar, Minister of Transport Uraloğlu met with the Speaker of the TRNC Parliament, Zoelu Töre. In their bilateral meeting, they exchanged views on parliamentary activities.

Uraloğlu discussed “planning new investments” with TRNC Prime Minister Üstel

Minister Uraloğlu met with TRNC Prime Minister Ünal Üstel and reviewed the projects implemented in the little homeland. The two held a comprehensive discussion regarding the planning of new investments.

Uraloğlu met with his counterpart Arıklı

Following his meetings with TRNC President Tatar, Parliament Speaker Töre, and Prime Minister Üstel, Minister Uraloğlu met with TRNC Minister of Public Works and Transport Erhan Arıklı. In the meeting where the works of both ministries were evaluated, Uraloğlu emphasized that they will continue to support the transport and infrastructure investments of the developing and growing TRNC.
