The Minister of Trade, Ömer Bolat, attended the second term meeting of the Turkey-Romania Joint Economic and Trade Commission (JETCO) in Bucharest.

Minister of Trade Ömer Bolat arrived in Bucharest, the capital of Romania, for the second term meeting of the Turkey-Romania Joint Economic and Trade Commission (JETCO). During his visit, Minister Bolat held bilateral and inter-delegation meetings with Romania’s Minister of Economy, Entrepreneurship, and Tourism, Ştefan-Radu Oprea. The discussions addressed trade relations between the two countries, investment areas, cooperation opportunities in energy and defense industry sectors, and the modernization of the Customs Union.

The trade volume is aimed to be increased to 15 billion dollars.

Later, Minister Bolat participated in the second term meeting of the Turkey-Romania Joint Economic and Trade Commission (JETCO), hosted by Romania’s Minister of Economy, Entrepreneurship, and Tourism, Oprea. In a post shared on his social media account, Bolat stated, “I believe that the JETCO Meeting will make important contributions to further strengthen the partnership between Turkey and Romania and to increase our bilateral trade volume from 10.6 billion dollars to 15 billion dollars. As Turkey, we aim to diversify our investments in Romania, where we are one of the important investors, and to expand cooperation areas. In this regard, during today’s meeting attended by representatives from our business community, we discussed new cooperation opportunities, particularly in defense industry, energy, green transformation, and digital economy, and noted that the modernization of the Customs Union would positively reflect on our relations with Romania and the EU. I wish the Joint Protocol we signed within the framework of the meeting to be beneficial for both countries and I thank the host Romania for their warm hospitality.”
