Hungarian Prime Minister Orban: ‘Germany is not the Germany of 10 years ago’

Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban said that Germany is not the same Germany as it was 10 years ago, stating, ‘Neither the taste nor the smell of the past remains. Germany is no longer the country that our parents and grandparents showed us as an example.’ Orban criticized German Chancellor Angela Merkel for opening the borders in 2015, leading to an influx of refugees into Europe. He also accused Germany of not showing solidarity with Hungary during the 2015 migration crisis. Orban’s remarks came during a meeting of the European People’s Party in Salzburg, Austria.

Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban stated that Germany is not the same Germany as it was 10 years ago, saying, ‘Neither the taste nor the smell of the past remains. Germany is no longer a country that our parents and grandparents used to show as an example to us.’ Orban made these remarks in an interview with the Hungarian state radio Kossuth before his meeting with Chancellor Olaf Scholz in Berlin, the capital of Germany. Highlighting that he was surprised by the changes Germany has gone through in recent years, the Hungarian leader said, ‘Germany is not the same as it was 10 years ago. Neither the taste nor the smell of the past remains. Germany is no longer a country that our parents and grandparents used to show as an example to us.’ Orban also mentioned, ‘Previous generations used to say to their children, ‘My child, if you want to see hardworking people, go to Germany. If you want to see well-organized work, if you want to see order, go to Germany.’ But Germany is now a colorful, changed, and multicultural world. This is a big change.’
Orban stated that migrants in Germany are no longer guests but have become citizens thanks to left-wing governments, ‘Germany is becoming more and more dominated by migrants every day. If we also allow migrants, Hungary will no longer be a Hungarian country. If someone makes a mistake regarding migration policy, it will no longer be possible to correct it.’ Orban also called on the Hungarian people to say ‘no’ to migration and protect their country as a ‘peace island.’
‘They aim to bring 1 million migrants to Europe every year’
Orban claimed that in Europe, Liberals, the Left, and the European People’s Party have formed a coalition in favor of war and are rapidly dragging the continent into war. He also stated that the second plan of this coalition is to bring 1 million migrants to Europe every year. Orban said, ‘A population change program is being implemented in Europe. The number of white Europeans is decreasing, and the number of Muslim migrants is increasing radically.’
Orban will meet with Scholz
Hungarian Prime Minister Orban will meet with German Chancellor Olaf Scholz today to discuss the plans and programs for the Hungarian EU presidency that will take over on July 1st, as well as the 6-month period. Hungary will determine the weekly agenda of the Union until the end of the year and chair meetings in Brussels. The official slogan of Hungary’s presidency will be ‘Make Europe Great Again,’ which bears a striking resemblance to the slogan ‘Make America Great Again’ of US presidential candidate Donald Trump.
