Historic Presidential Election in North Macedonia

In the second round of the presidential election held on April 24 in North Macedonia, a historic result was achieved. Gordana Siljanovska Davkova, the candidate of the main opposition party VMRO DPMNE, won the country’s new presidency by receiving 64.84% of the votes. With this result, Davkova became North Macedonia’s first female president.
Competing against the incumbent President Stevo Pendarovski in the election, Davkova secured victory according to unofficial results after 83.12% of the votes were counted. Pendarovski, on the other hand, received 29.29% of the votes and lost the election.
The voter turnout in the presidential election in the country was 46.69%. Following the clarification of the election results, Pendarovski accepted defeat and congratulated Davkova in a press conference.
