Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi proposed a 2-day ceasefire in the Gaza Strip and stated that he suggested the exchange of some Israeli captives for Palestinian prisoners.
In the Qatari capital Doha, Israel, the US, Egypt, and Qatar came together to restart the stalled negotiations regarding a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip. While the meeting was ongoing, Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi held a joint press conference with Algerian President Abdelmadjid Tebboune in Cairo, where he proposed a 2-day ceasefire in the Gaza Strip. Sisi mentioned that he suggested the exchange of 4 Israeli captives for some Palestinian prisoners during the 2-day ceasefire. He stated that negotiations should be restarted within 10 days after the implementation of the temporary ceasefire in order to reach a permanent ceasefire.
It was also suggested that a short-term ceasefire and prisoner exchange would be discussed during the talks in Doha.
