Azerbaijan and Armenia Meet in Peace Talks

Azerbaijan’s Foreign Minister Ceyhun Bayramov and Armenia’s Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan met in Almaty, Kazakhstan to discuss a peace agreement. The talks were considered an important step towards normalizing relations between the parties.

Symbolic Location of the Talks: Almaty Declaration

The talks took place at the Friendship House where the Almaty Declaration was signed in 1991, holding symbolic significance. Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Bayramov and Armenian Foreign Minister Mirzoyan emphasized the role of the Almaty Declaration in the peace process, stating that they value this document, which forms the basis of peace in the region.

Removing Barriers to Transportation

Armenian Foreign Minister Mirzoyan also addressed the transportation issue during the talks. Mirzoyan mentioned that all barriers to transportation in the region could be removed, and with the development of transportation infrastructure between countries, regional cooperation could be enhanced.

The Foreign Ministers of Azerbaijan and Armenia gathered at the proposal of Kazakhstan to prepare for a peace agreement, a step that was welcomed by Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev.
