Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese emphasized that the intervention of a Chinese military aircraft towards an Australian military helicopter is ‘unacceptable.’ The incident where a J-10 type fighter jet belonging to the Chinese air force dropped a flare near the Australian MH-60R military helicopter carrying out operations to enforce United Nations sanctions against North Korea has raised concerns in Australia.
China’s Response to the Incident is Awaited
Prime Minister Albanese stated that China has not yet provided an official response to the incident. Albanese expressed that the Australian public is expecting a statement from China and announced that the country will continue to demonstrate strong stances against China. It is mentioned that Chinese Prime Minister Li Qiang is planning to visit Australia soon, and the incident will be discussed during the meetings.
Statement from the Australian Ministry of Defense: It was stated that the helicopter managed to evade the flare dropped by China and that no one was injured in the incident. In November, there was also information that the Chinese navy had injured Australian divers in international waters.
