The new government led by current Prime Minister Andrej Plenkovic in Croatia was established by receiving a vote of confidence from the parliament. The National Assembly with 151 seats in the capital Zagreb of Croatia held a confidence vote for the new government. The new government under the leadership of Prime Minister Andrej Plenkovic was established by receiving 79 ‘yes’ votes against 61 ‘no’ votes. The ruling party Croatian Democratic Union (HDZ), which lost power in the elections on April 17, formed a coalition government with the support of the right-wing populist Homeland Movement (DP) and representatives of national minorities in the parliament. After the new government received the vote of confidence, Prime Minister Plenkovic and the ministers took office by swearing in.
Cabinet Members: The names in the new cabinet, which largely preserved the previous cabinet, include Foreign Minister Gordan Grlic Radman, Interior Minister Davor Bozinovic, Defense Minister Ivan Anusic, Finance Minister Marko Primorac, Economy Minister Ante Susnjar, Minister of Environmental Protection and Green Transformation Marija Vuckovic, Justice Minister Damir Habijan, Education Minister Radovan Fuchs, Demography and Migration Minister Ivan Sipic, Culture and Media Minister Nina Obuljen Korzinek, Tourism and Sports Minister Tonci Glavina, Regional Development and EU Funds Minister Sime Erlic, Labor, Family, and Social Policies Minister Marin Piletic, Agriculture, Forestry, and Fisheries Minister Josip Dabro, Maritime, Transport, and Infrastructure Minister Oleg Butkovic, Minister of Spatial Planning, Construction and State Property Branko Bacic, Veterans Minister Tomo Medved, and Health Minister Vili Beros.
Third Term: Plenkovic, before the vote, stated that the priority of the new government would be to create a successful, dynamic, fair, sustainable, and sovereign Croatia. The Croatian leader also promised to increase employment, raise the average wage, fight corruption, protect borders and national security, and modernize the army. Starting his third term, Plenkovic, in his statement after the formation of the new government, mentioned that the opposition-supported President Zoran Milanovic suffered a defeat in the elections. Plenkovic indicated that in the previous two terms, Croatia joined the Schengen area, adopted the Euro, acquired French Rafale fighter jets, and built the Peljesac Bridge, taking significant strategic steps. He pledged to take new steps and reduce political tensions in the third term.
