They set out from North Macedonia by bicycle to fulfill the Hajj duty
Macedonian Albanian Qamuran Hirda and Bosnian Adem Aljic, who set out from the capital of North Macedonia, Skopje, to fulfill their Hajj duties by bicycle, arrived in Bulgaria.
Macedonian Albanian Qamuran Hirda and Bosnian Adem Aljic set out from the capital of North Macedonia, Skopje, by bicycle to fulfill their Hajj duties. After setting out towards the holy lands with the motto “Skopje to Mekkah 2024”, the 57-year-old Hirda and 60-year-old Aljic arrived in Bulgaria.
Bid farewell by relatives and close friends in Skopje with prayers and takbirs, the two cyclists stated that they aimed to reach the city of Makkah in Saudi Arabia within 2 months.
They will board a plane after Turkey
The cyclists stated that they will cycle through Bulgaria to Turkey and then to Syria, and due to the war in Syria, they will fly to Jordan. They expressed their desire to make the entire journey by bicycle but stated that they made this decision due to the war.

Hirda stated that they passed through the border easily and are currently in Bulgaria. Hirda noted that they are moving towards the town of Dubnica in Bulgaria and said, “We will stay in Dubnica tonight. The weather is very nice. We are making progress. I extend my thanks to all compatriots and fellow believers for their support, follow-up, and prayers.”
Hirda mentioned that the day before setting out, he hosted a dinner for close family members and friends at his home and received prayers from his relatives and friends before the journey.
Two brothers had started their Hajj journey from Scotland to Makkah by bicycle
Scottish citizens of Pakistani origin Abdul Rahman Ali and Reehan Ali had set off from the Midlothian-Bonnyrigg Mosque in the capital of Scotland, Edinburgh, to move to Makkah in Saudi Arabia to perform Hajj. Farewelled by their families, the brothers will collect donations for Palestinians affected by Israeli attacks in approximately 13 countries they pass through during their journey.
