Heavy rain and hail paralyzed life in the city of Gniezno in Poland. As hundreds of buildings, including public buildings, were flooded, the streets turned into lakes due to the rainfall that should have occurred in a month falling in just 1 hour. In the western city of Gniezno in Poland, heavy rain and hail had an impact. The amount of rainfall that should have occurred in a month poured down in 1 hour, causing life to come to a standstill in the city. Hundreds of buildings, including hospitals, police stations, and schools, were flooded. Due to the strong winds, the roofs of many buildings were blown off, and citizens made 270 calls to the fire department due to flooding. Heavy rain and subsequent hail turned the streets into a virtual lake, causing damage to many vehicles. Authorities stated that there were no casualties due to the heavy rain and hail. Mayor of Gniezno Michal Powalowski, in his statement, mentioned that some homes are currently without electricity and water, and the damage assessment work could take several days. The Polish Meteorology and Water Management Institute stated that 80 to 100 liters of rainfall per square meter fell in the city, which is equal to the amount of rainfall that should occur in a month.
