Foreign tourists traveling to Bali will pay a $10 tax
Foreign tourists wishing to enter Indonesia’s Bali island will pay a $10 tax. Entry to Bali, one of the most touristy islands in the world, is now subject to a fee. Indonesian authorities announced that foreign tourists wishing to enter Bali island will pay a $10 tax to preserve the island’s surroundings and culture. The tourist tax, which was announced last month, will take effect starting today. Indonesian domestic tourists will be exempt from the application, which is aimed at foreign tourists coming to Bali from abroad or different parts of Indonesia. Those wishing to enter the island will be able to make payments online.
Most tourists are from Australia Tourism accounted for 60% of Bali’s annual domestic gross domestic product before the Coronavirus pandemic. According to official data, Australian tourists prefer Bali the most. Last November, 100,000 arrivals from Australia to Bali were recorded, followed by tourists from India, China, and Singapore. On the other hand, the behavior of foreign tourists towards the Balinese people has often been brought up. Last March, a Russian tourist was deported from Bali after stripping naked on Mount Agung. Also in March, foreign tourists’ motorcycle use was banned following incidents of traffic violations. According to official data, approximately 4.8 million tourists visited the island of Bali between January and November of last year.
