The statement made by the Palestinian Civil Defense indicated that all hospitals in the north of Gaza were out of service. Israel’s escalating and continuing attacks on the Gaza Strip are deepening the humanitarian crisis in the Gaza Strip. Israel, targeting not only civilian residential areas but also hospitals and humanitarian aid organizations, is implementing genocide in the Gaza Strip. The spokesperson for the Gaza Civil Defense announced that the situation in Gaza is deteriorating and that the infrastructure is now exhausted. The spokesperson stated that all hospitals in the north of Gaza were out of service due to Israeli attacks.
Humanitarian organizations affiliated with the United Nations have reported that the food aid provided to the south of Gaza by Israel is running out due to the expanding attacks. Georgios Petropoulous, the Head of the Gaza Office of the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA), stated that the food to be distributed by the World Food Program and the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) will run out by Sunday. Petropoulous said, ‘This means that only what has been distributed to people in their shelters or homes will remain. There are 12 bakeries supported by humanitarian partners in Gaza. Eight have ceased operations due to fuel and stock shortages, while four continue to operate with reduced capacity, but their stocks will run out by Monday’.
‘No way out or entry for people’ Petropoulous shared on his social media account, ‘No fuel, no food, no water. There is no way out or entry for people. Approximately 300,000 people have been displaced in the last 5 days. The UN and its partners have been facing a completely preventable humanitarian aid cut-off for days. Aid must flow for humanity to prevail in Gaza’.
United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees Filippo Grandi reiterated the call for a ceasefire in a statement on his social media account, stating that the Israeli army’s attacks in Rafah have killed and displaced more Palestinians trapped in the south of Gaza. Grandi said, ‘The occupying power Israel has a responsibility to prevent regional escalation and new refugee influx. Humanitarian aid must be allowed to be provided to those in need in Gaza’.
