Discovering mouse residues in packaged bread produced by Pasco Shikishima, one of Japan’s leading companies, has led to a major food scandal in the country. This incident in Japan, known for its high hygiene standards, has caused concern among consumers.
Company officials announced that they identified bread packages contaminated with mouse residues as a result of emails from customers on May 5 and 7. Following this discovery, a total of 104,000 bread packages with expiration dates between May 7-11 were recalled from the market.
In their statement, company spokespersons expressed deep regret for the inconvenience caused to their customers and apologized to all consumers and business partners. They stated, ‘We express our deep regret for the discomfort our customers have experienced and apologize to all our consumers and business partners. To prevent such a situation from happening again, we will implement stricter quality control measures and review our production processes.’
While no health issues have been reported so far, it was mentioned that production at the Tokyo factory where the complained bread was produced has been temporarily halted, and a detailed investigation has been initiated.
