Hunter Biden Testifies in Impeachment Inquiry
As part of the investigation into President Joe Biden’s impeachment, his son Hunter Biden testified before the House Oversight and Reform Committee in a closed session. In his opening statement, Hunter Biden stated that his testimony should “put an end” to the impeachment investigation by Republicans, emphasizing that he did not involve his father in his business dealings. He said, “I never involved my father in my work. Not when I was practicing law, not during my investments, or in any domestic or international transactions, nor as a board member. Never.”
Accusing Republicans of ignoring clear and convincing evidence, Hunter Biden defended that the investigation into his father was initiated through implication, distortion, and sensationalism. He said, “My testimony today should put an end to this baseless and destructive political charade.”
After his opening statement, Hunter Biden continued to answer the committee’s questions.
Impeachment investigation against Biden
Republicans claim that Biden abused his power during his tenure as Vice President under former President Barack Obama from 2009 to 2017 and conducted his financial affairs through his son’s company. Republicans have not obtained any evidence suggesting that President Biden violated the law despite months of preliminary investigation.
19-page document released about Hunter Biden
Last year, James Comer, the Chairman of the House Oversight and Reform Committee, released a 19-page document showing that Hunter Biden received substantial payments from Russian, Kazakh, and Ukrainian oligarchs while his father was Vice President, stating, “During Joe Biden’s Vice Presidency, Hunter Biden sold him as a ‘brand’ to make millions from oligarchs in Kazakhstan, Russia, and Ukraine.”
