France is not planning to send troops to Ukraine in the near future
French President Emmanuel Macron stated in an interview with the Czech press that France does not consider sending military personnel to Ukraine in the near future.
French President Emmanuel Macron made new statements regarding the sending of troops to Ukraine in an interview with the Czech press. Macron stated that France does not plan to send military personnel to Ukraine in the near future, saying, “This does not mean that we are considering sending French troops to Ukraine in the near future, but it means that we have initiated a discussion and are considering everything that can be done to support Ukraine, especially on Ukrainian territory.”
Macron’s words
Following the Ukraine support conference held in Paris, the capital of France, on February 26, Macron stated, “We believe that Russia’s defeat is essential for Europe’s security and stability. Russia cannot win this war.” Macron emphasized that there was no consensus among Western countries on sending troops to Ukraine, but nothing should be ruled out. He said, “There was no consensus on sending troops today. But nothing should be ignored. We will do everything to prevent Russia from winning this war.”
“If the West sends troops to Ukraine, direct armed conflict between Russia and NATO will be inevitable”
Following Macron’s statements, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov was asked about the possibility of a direct armed conflict between NATO and Russia if Western countries send their troops to Ukraine. Peskov stated, “In this case, the issue will not be a possibility, it will be inevitable. We evaluate it this way.” Peskov emphasized that NATO countries should “evaluate” the consequences of sending troops to Ukraine and be aware of them. He said, “They should question whether this is in their interests, especially the interests of their peoples.”
Peskov also stated that the possibility of NATO countries sending troops to Ukraine is “a very important new situation,” and he said, “We are well aware of Mr. Macron’s attitude towards strategically defeating Russia.”
