Severe rains in the southern state of Rio Grande do Sul in Brazil have caused a flood disaster, with the death toll rising to 56. The situation remains serious in 235 different locations affected by the flood, including the state capital Porto Alegre.
In a statement by the Civil Defense of Rio Grande do Sul, it was reported that the death toll in the flood had reached 56, with 67 people still missing. At least 24 thousand people had to evacuate their homes, and significant damages occurred due to the flood.
As a result of the flood disaster, the streets turned into rivers, roads and bridges collapsed. A bridge over the river in Palma, located in Santa Maria, collapsed, and water levels rose rapidly due to heavy rains.
