European Union High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Josep Borrell, expressed concern over Israel’s planned military operation in Rafah in the Gaza Strip, stating, “Reports of military attacks on Rafah are concerning. This will exacerbate the already dire humanitarian situation and unbearable civilian casualties.” Israel’s attacks on the Gaza Strip have been ongoing for 126 days. In the intense bombardment in the region, 27,947 Palestinians have lost their lives, with Israel targeting all areas indiscriminately. Criticism is growing over the Israeli army’s planned military operation in the southern city of Rafah. In a statement, European Union High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Josep Borrell emphasized that 1.4 million Palestinians currently have no safe place to go in Rafah and are facing hunger. Borrell stated, “Reports of military attacks on Rafah are concerning. This will exacerbate the already dire humanitarian situation and unbearable civilian casualties.”

“It is time to take responsibility against the realization of a new Nakba” A statement from the office of Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas described Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s comments on the planned attack on Rafah as a “real threat.” It was noted that this plan is part of Israel’s plan to forcibly evict Palestinians from their land. The statement stressed that the Israeli and U.S. governments will be held fully responsible for the consequences of such action and called on the United Nations Security Council to take action. The statement said, “Now is the time for everyone to take responsibility against the realization of a new Nakba that will drag the entire region into endless wars.”
