President Ebrahim Raisi, Foreign Minister Hossein Amirabdollahian, and other officials who lost their lives in a helicopter crash in Iran were honored with a funeral ceremony in the city of Qom.
The bodies of Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi, Foreign Minister Hossein Amirabdollahian, East Azerbaijan Governor Malik Rahmati, Tabriz Friday Imam Ayatollah Ali Hashim, Raisi’s bodyguard Seyyed Mehdi Musevi, pilots Tahir Mustafavi and Muhsin Deryanush, along with technician Behruz Gadimi, were brought to the capital Tehran after a ceremony held in the city of Tabriz this morning.
A welcome ceremony was organized at Mehrabad Airport in the capital for the bodies brought to the airport. As the bodies were lowered at the airport, the band played the music from the movie ‘The Last Call’. Following the welcome ceremony, the bodies of Raisi and the other 7 individuals were taken from Tehran to the city of Qom. Thousands of Iranians gathered at the Fatima Masumeh Shrine in the city to receive the bodies. After the bodies were brought into the shrine accompanied by prayers, a funeral ceremony was held at the Jamaran Mosque.
To be taken from Qom to Tehran
After the ceremony in Qom, the bodies will depart towards the capital Tehran at 9:00 PM local time today. A funeral ceremony will be held tomorrow at 7:30 AM. Finally, after the ceremony starting at 8:00 AM on Thursday in the city of Mashhad, Raisi’s funeral will take place and he will be buried there.
