UN Official: „Hunger Crisis Growing in Gaza and Sudan“
Deputy Secretary-General for Humanitarian Affairs of the United Nations (UN), Martin Griffiths, drew attention to the hunger crisis caused by the conflicts in Gaza. Griffiths stated that half of the population in Gaza, more than 1 million people, could face death and starvation by mid-July.
Call to G7 Leaders: „Stop Hunger“
Griffiths addressed the G7 leaders, emphasizing that conflicts have brought millions of people to the brink of starvation and urgent intervention is required. Griffiths, stating that hunger is a preventable curse, expressed the need to act immediately without waiting for an official declaration of famine.
Griffiths said, „G7 leaders should immediately mobilize their political power and financial resources to ensure that humanitarian aid reaches those in need. Instead of supporting war machines that are killing civilians from hunger in Gaza and Sudan, we should prioritize diplomacy.“
