The “Kairos” rocket of the Japanese company exploded 5 seconds after launch
The first launch attempt of the Kairos rocket, owned by “Space One,” which aims to be the first private Japanese company to place satellites in orbit, ended in failure. The rocket exploded for an unknown reason just 5 seconds after taking off.
The first attempt by the Japanese civil space transportation company “Space One” to send a satellite into orbit ended in failure. The “Kairos” rocket, carrying a government-owned observation satellite, took off from the launch site established in the town of Kushimoto in the Wakayama prefecture at 11:01 local time. Just 5 seconds after takeoff, it exploded for reasons yet unknown. While the pieces of the 18-meter-long and 23-ton-weight rocket scattered around due to the explosion, it was reported that a small-scale fire broke out in the area. According to information obtained from the Kushimoto fire department, no injuries were reported due to the unsuccessful launch attempt. A detailed investigation has been launched to determine the cause of the accident.
The launch had been postponed
“Space One,” which set out with the goal of being the first private Japanese company to place satellites in orbit, had postponed the first launch, expected to take place last Saturday, due to a ship entering the waters near the launch site. The reason for the postponement was cited as “potential security risk.”
